You don't lack discipline.

No really. You don't.


I've had many of you reach out lately saying how sorry you are for not making it to class more. I also hear so much guilt or shame in your voice or message as you relay this apology.

When we don't make a workout or lack a fitness routine each week, it's assumed that we lack discipline. We lack motivation. We lack will-power or commitment.


So let me ask you this:


Are you devoted to taking care of your kids, your family, day in and day out?


Are you waking up each day with a to-do list a mile long and then going about performing as much as you can before collapsing into bed again that night?

Are you ensuring that everyone around you is cared for (often at the expense of yourself) as you try to balance the responsibilities of work and your family?


If the answer is yes, does that sound like you lack discipline? Motivation? Will-power or commitment?


Nope.


Truth be told, you can only give so much at any given point.


Your will power and drive to offer everything to everyone is extraordinary.


Therefore your ability to crush a workout yourself is weakened. Significantly.


You're not lacking any of the aforementioned traits by "failing" to make a workout happen.


You're depleted as hell. Tank is dry.


I say this with great empathy as it's currently the land I live in myself.


Feeding, caring for, nurturing and trying to get this little monkey to grow is consuming me.


Throw in a dash of being a decent mother to the other animals in the zoo + having my husband still kinda-somewhat-a-little-bit still like the grouchy b I often am + running the BASE biz and training others -

well, it's a lot.


I'm depleted as hell. Tank is dry.


What's been vital for me is appreciating the movement I get in, whenever or however long it happens.


I hit 2 BASE classes a week?

Feel like a damn rockstar.

Add another 20 minutes somewhere of trying to get my core back? Hell, suddenly I'm Jillian Michaels.


So maybe take some of the pressure off. Shelve the guilt. Let go of the shame.


We'll be here to offer everything we can when you can spend a bit of your tank on taking time for you.
