Let the season of zero motivation begin!

I mean, don't get me wrong. I'm not promoting this by any means, however in reality, its exactly what this time of year brings. For myself included. Staring down at my growing gorilla belly I realize how little I want to get sweaty and how much I want to eat every Chrissy cookie in sight. Here's the thing about motivation. It's not an attribute that courses through our veins all the damn time. It usually requires active awareness and an active push for the desired behavior. (It's not like this a$$ of mine is gonna get off the couch itself.) In most cases it also requires the support and accountability of someone shining some motivational light in your corner. Here's where we've got this. What do you say we make a pinky promise? Like, an imaginary air one that we do by ourselves? (#quarantinelife) Let's close our eyes, pinky extended, and promise to stay committed to our own health and joy for movement as we stay committed to one another. Even if this means we're basically dragging one another there some days. Trust me- sometimes you're going to be pulling me from that hot chocolate mug as I waddle over to the screen. Also trust I'll be grateful for it. I mean, maybe initially I'll be a crank, but I'll turn it around as soon as Benatar or Bieber come on. In sweaty gratitude always, -B xo

It's time to ROCK YOUR BASE

We're saying goodbye to my dog tomorrow night. I got nothing. It's time. I know this. I've known this, actually. And the gift of mental and emotional preparation has served me, despite the impending doom of this incredible loss. This rescue mutt has been with me for nearly 16 years now and it's genuinely strange to imagine life before her. Kinda like 2020, no? It's like, I obviously remember rocking classes in a studio, getting together regularly with my friends, having to actually try and look cute because I didn't have a mask covering my face... And yet, doesn't it kinda feel like another life ago? I keep coming back to what grounds me. What keeps me centered, what keeps me present and what keeps me looking forward. It's my family, of course. This growing gorilla belly. The holiday lights I see, the endless sugar I taste, the Bieb's Christmas serenades,... the soul-filled things I can almost wrap myself up in. And it's BASE. It's you. The clarity, focus and purpose that I'm fueled by to keep this community and this train rolling. It is genuinely another emotional blanket I can use for warmth when things get chilly... or just freakin' sad. So tomorrow morning, let's sweat a bit, strengthen some, laugh some more, say weird, awkward or inappropriate things... oh wait, that will probably just be me... And let's grab a hold of what makes us feel good, celebrating moving our bodies as we warm our hearts. In sweaty gratitude always, -B xo

Do me a favor. Think about this: Anything you can walk away from right now? To be clear, it's not me asking. It's Annie Lenox. I actually consciously chose to walk away from some things since last weekend. I stepped off social a bit. I pulled off the grind highway, the activities that attempt to push my business forward. I skipped away from some household chores that needed to get done ....ya know, the things I always feel I "should" do. The tasks I'm "compelled" and "obligated" to perform... when honestly, big picture, are probably irrelevant. I mean, some things we have to do each day. I'd like to throw in the towel on the whole home school support gig I was promoted to in March, but well, that's not happening. There are things, however, that feel too sharp underfoot at a time when something else just.matters.more. For instance, when something else takes hold of you emotionally, whether it be grief or celebration, that deserves to be prioritized. Deserves your focus, recognition, or maybe simply, your time. Maybe it's something that warrants letting go, something that prevents you from being where you need to be. In that moment, on that day, during that week. What can you lovingly walk away from? Even if it's temporary? To nurture, water and take care of what you need to right now? To take care of yourself, or to attend to what matters most...? FYI- I threw my annual family holiday cards on that list. I'm know, I know... I just didn't have the mental space to give this year. Other responsibilities, other experiences, other necessary moments took precedence. And that's okay. Maybe you'll get one from me in February. Maybe. In sweaty gratitude always, -B xo
